Youth use of hookahs and water pipes becoming a health crisis

The increasing use of alternative tobacco products, like e-cigarettes and hookahs (water pipes), by those under age 18 is becoming a public health crisis, according to researchers from the NYU Langone Medical Center. Writing in the Journal of the American Medical Association, Michael Weitzman, MD, a professor of Pediatrics and of Environmental Medicine at NYU Langone, call these products a new challenge in the 75-year-old war against tobacco.
